By supporting local businesses through Local e Sourced reduces our business’ carbon footprint. Our impact on the environment is as minimal as we can possibly be. Our focus is on the environment and sustainability and we’ll explain how…
We also utilise two local couriers, APC to reach areas outside of the county, and one that has sole focus within the county.
The latter is the fantastic Hereford Pedicargo, delivering goods locally using bicycles. Hereford Pedicargo is a sustainable, pedal powered, zero emission logistics service, keeping things simple, fun, honest and green. This has as a minimal environmental impact as is possible and we are proud to partner with them both.
WoolCool provide us with thermal insulation packaging. Made using 100% pure wool for transporting our temperature sensitive food. Our outer packaging is also 100% recyclable cardboard and we are also however developing 100% compostable packaging tape. We cannot take responsibility for our suppliers’ packaging. However, we know each and every one of them endeavour to be as environmentally friendly and sustainable as they can possibly be. We actively encourage others to minimise their carbon footprint. If we all contribute as much as we can, the future will be greener for us all.
The Local e Sourced Kraft paper tape is an environmentally-friendly alternative to other tapes and is 100% recyclable. The Kraft tape is made of paper so it is completely natural, 100% recyclable and compostable. As a result of the strength of gummed paper tape much less tape needs to be used, compared with alternative plastic film tapes. Why do we use paper tape? Because it is made from paper. Why should you care? Both of these substances come from trees and are therefore a renewable resource. The paper tape can be recycled along with the cardboard box to which they are attached.
UKFast is committed to a programme of continuous improvement to minimise impacts on the environment and will encourage and work with UKFast customers, business partners and the wider community, of which UKFast is a part, to develop practical and sustainable environmental strategies.
However, as part of UKFast’s continual improvement programme, UKFast will develop and implement an environmental management system which is in line with ISO 14001:2004 standard and contains only those initiatives which can be objectively audited.
As a member of the Herefordshire Green Network, we aim to reduce waste, improve carbon emissions, and improve efficiencies in our rural energy usage. By joining the Herefordshire Green Network for instance is our declaration of our commitment to encouraging environmental sustainability and future resilience.
Furthermore, this project is for the whole of Herefordshire. Increasing brand recognition and awareness for our suppliers. More recognition for supporting local and taking the focus away slightly from big global businesses. It is time to protect, promote and celebrate our local businesses and local assets.
As we work primarily online, it’s easy for us to be green. We shred and recycle any waste plus we have all new equipment with good energy efficiency. Making every effort to recycle and power save but we do this because we want to, not to gain any green credentials but letting people know this adds to our overall corporate social responsibility. Our trusted print supplier, Printed.com, are committed to reducing their impact on the environment. From innovative packaging and sourcing carbon-neutral and eco-friendly papers to minimising and recycling their waste, they’re dedicated to doing good for our planet.
However, it’s a collective effort. Without suppliers, we’re nothing. Without our fantastic local couriers, we wouldn’t be able to give everyone a taste of Herefordshire. Finally, without the support from so many, we wouldn’t have the courage to create Herefordshire’s first online marketplace. Last, but not least, without our customers, this would be just an empty dream.
Now, more than ever, is the time to support one another. Together we can work toward and contribute to a brighter, community-focused future.
